Entitled ‘Italy and South Australia Discovering Space Together’, the networking event will be held on Thursday, July 25, at PKF Adelaide.
The evening will focus on the current relationship and key opportunities that exist between the South Australian space industry and Italy.
“We are delighted to have chosen such an important topic at the moment: space,” Christian Verdicchio of ALTO-SA said.
“Everywhere in South Australia, people are talking about the space sector, with the new space agency being housed here in Adelaide.
“However, what people don’t realise is the key role Italy plays in the world space sector, and how it is a big player in space technologies and exploration.”
Italy is third country in the world to launch into space.
It also ranks seventh in the world and fourth in Europe for its aerospace industry, which produces an annual turnover of US$20 billion and represents the largest manufacturing sector in Italy.
In 2018, the Italian Space Agency (ASI) signed a Letter of Intent with the South Australian government to develop strong and fruitful scientific collaborations, which has now led to the establishment of SITEAL Spa, which has set up its headquarters in Adelaide.
SITEAL Spa is a leader in producing next-generation satellites and is the first large company to manufacture space systems in Australia.
Guest speakers at ALTO-SA’s upcoming event will include Mark Ramsey, General Manager of SITAEL Australia, and Nicola Sasanelli, Director of the SA Space Industry Centre.
These two industry experts will participate in an informative and engaging presentation, which will be followed by a networking session featuring drinks and canapés, thanks to the support of Serafino Wines and PKF Adelaide.
“We hope that this night can promote the strong link between Italy and Australia in this sector and the future investment opportunities for both countries,” Verdicchio concluded.
