Following the outstanding success of Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos and Rossini's Cenerentola, CitiOpera returns with a stunning production of Verdi's Il Trovatore. This beautiful and ambitious production stars an international cast, headed up by Yoon Byung Kil as Manrico, 2015 Herald Sun Aria winner Fiona Jopson as Leonora, the outstanding Helen Hill as Azucena, emerging young talent Samuel Thomas-Holland as Count de Luna and Opera Australia's Eddie Muliaumaseali'i as Ferrando. Direct from Italy, Maestro Gaetano Colajanni leads CitiOpera's acclaimed orchestra and chorus. Directed by Stella Axarlis AM, the production reflects the rich tradition of operatic passion, violence and love on stage. Axarlis, who has made the transition from world-renowned singer to passionate director, has led a number of acclaimed productions.
